Q. What do the Tech Helpers do?

A. The Tech Helpers have volunteered to be available to help members with issues installing and using Content Filters and Accountability Software.

Q. Can I ask them for help in other tech support areas?

A. You can ask. They are certainly competent to help you in a lot of areas, and are probably already involved in your church’s technical needs – recordings, podcasts, etc. If you have questions or need advice they’ll be happy to help. Just keep in mind, a brother would gladly help you change a tire if you’re stuck by the road – but if you want him to overhaul your engine, you should expect to wait until he has time, and to compensate him for the work.

Q. Will Content Filters and Accountability Software slow down my phone?

A. Yes. Every app you run is load on your phone. Will you notice the difference? That depends on your phone, your connection, which apps you have chosen, and what else you’re running. Today, even budget smartphones are pretty powerful devices. If your phone is less than 3 or even 4 years old, you probably won’t notice the load.

Q. If I already use a content filter or accountability package that I trust, do I have to change to one of the ones listed here?

A. No, please continue using the packages you trust – and tell us about them. There are hundreds of good packages out there and the site is not meant to provide an exhaustive list. In the interest of simplicity for our members, we have limited instructions/reviews to packages the tech committee members have personal experience with, and that are in widespread use in the conference. We would love to hear from our members and be able to expand the information we provide.
