Some basic facts to protect yourself that people tend to forget when they’re using the internet, or answering the phone.
Nigerian princes do not (EVER) email Americans offering to pay them to help get their money from American banks.
No one knows your car’s warranty has expired.
Microsoft will NEVER call you and tell you that your computer has a virus.
Anyone who calls to tell you they see your computer has a virus (or any other problem) is lying.
That popup window saying your computer has detected a virus is also lying.
The Social Security department, or the IRS, or the Sheriff’s office, or Amazon, or your bank will NEVER call you and demand you send money.
Your grandchild is not in jail and does not need bail money.
No reputable computer technician will EVER ask you for your password to anything.
Your bank will NEVER send you an email with a link to follow that will ask you to enter your account information or password. (By the way, was the email even from your bank? BB&T does not email Farm Credit’s customers, either.)
